Before downloading VirtualDJ software for PC

Check Windows Settings for your operating system and system type. The current download page targets 64-bit Windows; do not confuse an old 32-bit package with the present release. The requirements page is the authority for supported Windows versions and additional demands such as stems or video.

Back up an existing VirtualDJ library and configuration before an upgrade. Note which audio device and controller mapping you currently use. A quick photo of a working setup is often more useful during recovery than an unfamiliar collection of settings files.

Download and verify the source

The Download for Windows button on this site points to the publisher's download endpoint. Your browser may follow a redirect to the actual installer. Confirm the download originates from the publisher rather than an unrelated advertising page. Do not run a different file simply because it has a similar name.

Inspect the downloaded file's properties and any Windows publisher information before running it. This website does not add an installer wrapper, activation tool or bundled application. It does not independently certify the executable as malware-free.

Install, then establish a baseline

Close the running application before updating. Follow the installer's instructions, then launch VirtualDJ normally. Use a local music file for the first playback test. Confirm the track loads, the waveform appears and the master meter responds.

Select the intended audio device in the application's audio settings. The default Windows output and the device selected inside DJ software can differ. Keep the amplifier or speakers at a low level until the routing is confirmed.

Add hardware one change at a time

With computer playback working, use the manufacturer's Windows driver instructions for your controller. Some devices need a dedicated driver; others use operating-system support. Choose the matching hardware profile and verify the master and headphone outputs separately.

If a problem appears, reverse the last change before making several others. This makes it possible to tell whether the cause is a driver, output assignment, cable, license or application setting.

When an upgrade goes wrong

Write down the exact build, Windows version, device name and error. Test without optional extensions, then compare the result with your known local track. Keep your library backup intact until you have confirmed that cues, playlists and audio routing still work.

Is downloading VDJ the same as buying a license?

No. Installing and licensing are separate steps. Read the free-use and Pro guides before purchasing anything.

Can I install the current release on Windows 7?

Do not use the current download as a Windows 7 installer. Follow the separate legacy compatibility guide and the publisher's requirements page.
